Minecraft Texture Packs: Building Creative Constructions with Improved Graphics

Minecraft is an online game that allows its players to construct constructions using textured cubes within a three-dimensional environment. Mojang is an Swedish company, launched Minecraft's alpha version in May 2009. In December 2010, a new beta version was released. Mojang recently launched the most recent version of Minecraft for Android and iOS platforms at MineCon 2011. However, not all Android-based gadgets can play the game. As of now, Minecraft is exclusively available only on Xperia Play.


Graphically, there's nothing impressive about Minecraft. The game is available in low-resolution graphics and you won't find any shades in the game graphics. However using Minecraft Texture Packs or Mods these shortcomings are able to be overcome. The Minecraft Texture Packs and Mods do not provide more options of different backgrounds in the Minecraft world. Mods can also boost the resolution of the images. The main reason is that, apart from changing the graphics, there aren't any other applications for the Mods. However, the different backgrounds could make your gaming experience more fun and less boring. These Mods or texture packs are only available for Macs and Windows computers.


Many texture packs are available for you to download and use in your Minecraft game. One of them is Optifine. The Optifine mod is very well-known due to its texture pack having both improved performance and graphical features. The change isn't too drastic. The mod does, however, smoothen some aspects of the game. Water Shade Alpha is another example of a Minecraft mod. You cannot use this mod together with Optifine because they aren't compatible with each one. Water Shade Alpha texture pack makes the water effects in the game appear more realistic.


These are the steps to install a texture application on Windows.


1. Make sure you have an extractor application such as WinRar.


2. Open the start menu and then click the "run" option. If you use Windows XP, type "%appdata%.minecraftbin"; if you use Windows Vista or 7, you will need to type "C:Users*YourUserName*AppDataRoaming.minecraftbin".

4. Right-click the file, select the "Open With ..."" option from the pop-up menu and choose "WinRar Archiver". This step will bring you to the open WinRar program that displays some folders and files with an extension of png.
