Minecraft's Latest Snapshot Includes Chat Reports, Which Are Safe For Building
Minecraft is a game you should play with your friends. Sometimes, you'll be working together to create something incredible, other times you'll use mods to recreate Eldenring and other times you'll explore servers online to see what the internet can offer. If you are playing online with strangers there are times when things can get messy, and this appears to be the problem that the latest Minecraft snapshot is attempting to fix.
Minecraft snapshot 22W24A is out now, and it's building towards 1.19.1 by adding a few bug fixes and two new features. The most important one is chat reporting that lets you report players who are sending "abusive messages" in the game chat. The blog says that "any reports made during testing periods will not be considered," but that it is crucial to acknowledge that toxic players are an integral part any online game. This could be an important step.
Chat reporting is accessible in the social interactions section, and you'll have to report each chat's individual messages, and select the appropriate category for them, too. Presumably, this is to protect the system from being misused, as you can't simply create a report that is generically about a player - you have to describe what they've done and the blog says that your report will be reviewed by a moderator. There's no way to know what constitutes a legitimate and actionable report, but it's worth knowing the details.
Another significant change is that you are now able to duplicate the amazing Minecraft allay. This is done by giving them an amethyst-shard. However, duplication has a 2.5-minute cooling time. This should take away any worries about how many mobs of allay are there. Plus there's always more a cute thing, right?
We are huge fans of the Mario Kart mod for Minecraft. It incorporates the karts we all know and love, but with some amazing aquatic features, too.
