27 November 2015.

YouTube and Minecraft legend Stampy Cat is to deliver a lecture in front of 2,000 schoolchildren in Dundee.

Stampy, whose real name was Joseph Garrett, will deliver the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Christmas lecture in Caird Hall on Monday.

His YouTube channel has more than 6.7 million subscribers.

The lecture will be shown exclusively on BBC iPlayer next Thursday.

BBC Scotland reported that Minecraft fans will be able to witness Stampy show how he makes his videos in a session with Chris van der Kuyl, Dundee games entrepreneur.

Stampy will share his story of making his Christmas special and give insight into his life.

Van der Kuyl stated that Stampy was the "epitome digital native of the 21st century" who would inspire audiences regardless of their age.

"Stampy inspires a whole new generation, who can see that future careers will require a unique mix of talents, creativity, and technical skills that are mastered by all," he stated.

The RSE lecture, part of BBC Make it Digital initiative, will be shown to encourage digital creativity in young people.
